A company representing nearly 15 million cable subscribers and The Walt Disney Co. blamed each other Friday for a dispute that has cut off Disney-owned stations to viewers on the eve of a big sports weekend for U.S. Open tennis and college football fans. The dispute between Disney and Charter Communications Inc. resulted in ESPN, ABC, FX, National Geographic and Disney-branded stations going abruptly dark on Thursday night for Charter's Spectrum TV subscribers. ABC-TV was also cut in seven markets, including New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Both the cable company and Disney said the other side rejected short-term extensions that would have kept Spectrum subscribers' access to the networks.Disputes that result in such service disruptions are not uncommon. This one feels bigger, both because of the number of networks and customers involved and how the companies are grappling with a rapidly changing business environment. The plug was pulled Thursday while ESPN was carrying a college foo...In honor of Labor Day, study reveals which states are the best and worst for employees

By Kate Brumback | Associated PressATLANTA — Rudy Giuliani on Friday pleaded not guilty to Georgia charges that accuse him of trying, along with former President Donald Trump and others, to illegally overturn the results of the 2020 election in the state. In filing his not guilty plea with the court, the former New York mayor and Trump attorney also waived his right to appear at an arraignment hearing set for Sept. 6. Robert Alvin Justus Jr. decided he’d had enough. He wanted to get something off his chest, and he needed the FBI.Two weeks earlier, Justus drove an unmarked white van past the federal building in Oakland while his acquaintance, a U.S. Air Force sergeant named Steven Carrillo, showered the building’s security booth with bullets, killing one Federal Protective Services security officer and wounding a second guard.Justus had grown increasingly paranoid since the May 2020 shooting. He’d seen a silver SUV with tinted windows outside his Millbrae apartment, and guessed — accurately, it turned out — that the vehicle belonged to the FBI. But mostly, he feared that fellow followers of the Boogaloo movement —a loosely organized anti-government group that is preparing for a second Civil War —might come after him.“My life’s been a living hell since then,” Justus told the agents at the beginning of an hours long FBI interrogation in June 2020. He later added,...Latest news
