Suburban man allegedly hit date with SUV after argument, police say DES PLAINES, Ill. — A date almost turned deadly in northwest suburban Des Plaines following an incident police said was caught on video.According to police, Jose Roldan Vazquez, 37, of Mount Prospect allegedly hit a woman he met on a dating site with his SUV following an argument. Des Plaines officers patrolling the area of Golf Road and Mount Prospect Road said they heard a scream from a woman on the northwest corner of the intersection. Approaching officers in the first block of W. Golf Road then encountered the woman knocking on the front door of a business. Police said the woman's clothes were wet and disheveled as she explained to officers that someone, later identified as Vazquez, struck her with a vehicle.Officers later learned that the victim agreed to meet Vazquez in a parking lot after conversing on a dating app. Police said the victim entered Vazquez's white Ford SUV and he drove away. Broadview Federal Credit Union distributed more than $200,000 worth of gifts during their Holiday Sharing initiative.The presents and donations are collected and distributed to thousands of people in the Capital Region. Saint Rose students protest college closure, demand answers "It just makes me super proud to know that, as an organization, that we are setting the tone to make sure that everyone has a joyful season," Chief Community Officer Kathy Lanni said. "This can be very stressful for many families who are just trying to make ends meet on a daily basis, and then you have the stress of the holiday, so we are able to say, you know what? We got ya. We got ya covered."This is the 32nd year for the program, and organizers said it's up 25 percent over last year.

LOUIS – An endangered SILVER advisory has been issued for a veteran who wandered from the VA St. Louis Healthcare System facility.According to the Department of Veterans Affairs Police Department, Bennie Wade Moore Jr. was reported missing just after 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday.Moore, who has dementia, was at the VA for an appointment. He left the facility when his caregiver momentarily stepped away. He was last seen walking northbound on Spring Avenue.Moore, 85, stands 5’8” and weighs 172 pounds.
